Alexandra Basirov

Global Head of Sustainable Finance, FIC, BNP Paribas

Alexandra Basirovis the Global Head of Sustainable Finance for Financial Institutions at BNP Paribas. She was previously Head of Official Institutions coverage in the UK & Ireland, responsible for the marketing of all asset classes across product lines to Official Institutions including Central Banks, Multilaterals and Sovereign Wealth Funds in London.

She joined BNP Paribas in 2006 to run the Supranational, Agency and Sovereign Debt platform across cash and derivative products and moved into OIC coverage in early 2015. Alexandra started her career inJPMorgan‘s M&A department, spending time both in London and Frankfurt. She then subsequently went on to join the Debt Capital Markets team. Initially, Alexandra worked in JPMorgan’s German team covering Corporates, Financial Institutions and Agencies and ultimately ran the Austrian and German financial institutions and frequent borrowers team.

She has a Bscin Economics from the London School of Economics. She has been recognised numerous times by the industry as a rising star and a leading woman in finance featuring numerous times as FN100 Most Influential Women in European Finance. In 2009, she featured as one of the 35 Women under 35 Heroines for Hard Times across industries in the UK by Management Today.

David Blood

Co-Founder and Senior Partner, Generation Investment Management

David Blood is co-founder and Senior Partner of Generation Investment Management. Since its founding in 2004, Generation has played an integral role in the development of sustainable investing and in demonstrating the long-term commercial and societal benefits of this approach.

Previously, David spent 18 years at Goldman Sachs including serving as CEO of Goldman Sachs Asset Management. David received a B.A. from Hamilton College and an M.B.A. from the Harvard Graduate School of Business. He is chairman of Dialight, Social Finance UK and co-chair of The World Resources Institute and on the boards of On the Edge Conservation and SHINE. David is also a life trustee of Hamilton College.

Sarah Breeden

Executive Director, UK Deposit Takers Supervision, Bank of England

Sarah is the Executive Director for UK Deposit Takers Supervision, responsible for the supervision of the UK’s banks, building societies and credit unions. She has oversight of the Bank of England’s (Bank) work enhancing the financial system’s resilience to climate change. Sarah was previously the Executive Director for International Banks Supervision, where having joined the directorate in 2015, she was responsible for supervision of the UK operations of international banks.

Before moving into supervision, Sarah was a Director in the PRA’s Financial Stability Strategy and Risk Directorate, where she focused on developing the UK’s macroprudential policy making framework and supporting the Financial Policy Committee. Previously she was head of the division in the Financial Stability Directorate that assessed risks to financial stability from financial markets, the non-bank financial sector, and the real economy.

Sarah led the Bank’s work to support the transition of prudential regulation of banks and insurers from the Financial Services Authority to the Bank. Prior to that she was head of the Bank’s Risk Management Division and head of Special Projects in the Markets Directorate, leading the design and risk management of financial market operations undertaken by the Bank including those launched during the financial crisis.

Jessica Uhl

Chief Financial Officer, Royal Dutch Shell

Jessica was Executive Vice President Finance for the Integrated Gas business from January 2016 to March 2017. Previously, she was Executive Vice President Finance for Upstream Americas from 2014 to 2015, Vice President Finance for Upstream Americas Unconventionals from 2013 to 2014, Vice President Controller for Upstream and Projects & Technology from 2010 to 2012, Vice President Finance for the global Lubricants business from 2009 to 2010, and Head of External Reporting from 2007 to 2009. She joined Shell in 2004 in finance and business development, supporting the Renewables business.

Prior to joining Shell, Jessica worked for Enron in the USA and Panama from 1997 to 2003 and for Citibank in San Francisco, USA from 1990 to 1996. She obtained an MBA at INSEAD in 1997.

EMEA Editor, Reuters Breakingviews

Peter oversees Breakingviews’ economics coverage worldwide, and was formerly Asia editor in Hong Kong. Prior to joining Reuters, Peter spent 10 years at the Financial Times. From 2004 to 2009 he was the FT’s banking editor, leading the paper’s award-winning coverage of global banking during the credit crunch. Between 2000 and 2004 Peter reported for the FT from New York.
