Alessandra Perrazzelli
Deputy Governor, Bank of Italy

Member of the Governing Board and Deputy Governor of the Bank of Italy from 10 May 2019 (Presidential Decree of 3 May 2019). In this capacity, Alessandra is also a member of the Joint Directorate of the Insurance Supervisory Authority (IVASS). In 1986 she graduated with honours from the University of Genoa with a degree in law. In 1988 she obtained a Master of Laws in Corporation Law from New York University School of Law.

After completing her studies, Alessandra began her legal career. As a member of both the Genoa bar and the New York State bar, she worked in prestigious law firms in Italy and abroad. From 1995 to 1996, she served as head of International Regulatory & Competition Law at Olivetti. From 1997 to 2003, she was a partner in the Brussels law firm O’Connor & Company where she served as the head of the Public Utilities practice. From 2003 to 2013 she worked for Intesa Sanpaolo SpA in their Milan and Brussels offices where she served as the head of International Regulatory & Antitrust Affairs; she was responsible for managing all the Group’s large acquisitions, including the merger between Banca Intesa and Sanpaolo IMI. From 2013 to 2017, she served as Italy Country Manager for Barclays Bank PLC.

Alessandra was vice president and member of the Board of Directors of A2A SpA from 2017 to 7 May 2019 and a member of the Board of Directors of Monte Titoli SpA from 2017 to 6 May 2019. In 2018 she participated in the Executive Program in Leadership and Innovation at Stanford University. She served as a member of a number of different boards of directors: from 2008 to 2013 for Fondazione Filarete; from 2015 to 2016 for M5 Metropolitana Milanese; and from 2011 to 2017 for Azienda Trasporti Milanesi SpA. She was also a member of the Investment Committee for Atlante Venture and Atlante Venture Mezzogiorno, part of the Intesa Sanpaolo Group, from 2008 to 2013. From 2010 to 2013 she was the President of Valore D.

She has received many accolades: in 2017 she won Le Tecnovisionaire in the Finance and Social Innovation category; in 2007 she was awarded a Bellisario Prize; in 2004 Global Competition Review included her amongst the world’s leading 100 female lawyers in competition law; and in 1999 she was included in the Who’s Who of Telecom Lawyers.

Alberto Nagel
CEO, Mediobanca

Alberto Nagel has been Chief Executive Officer Mediobanca since October 2008. He joined Mediobanca in April 1991, after graduating in Economics and Business Studies at the Bocconi University in Milan. He has spent his entire career at Mediobanca, taking on positions of increasing responsibility to become central manager in February 1998, Deputy General Manager in 2002, General Manager in April 2003, and Managing Director in July 2007.

Davide Serra
Founder and CEO, Algebris

Davide is the Founder and CEO of Algebris Investments, a global asset management boutique that manages Long Only and Hedged strategies in Credit, Equity and Non-Performing Loans, with a focus on Global Financials. Founded in 2006, Algebris currently manages $12.5 billion of assets and maintains offices in London (FCA regualated), Boston (MAS), Singapore (SEC), Luxembourg (CSSF), Milan and Tokyo (FSA). Davide is recognised as one of the world's leading experts on financial services and is often consulted by the world's central bankers and regulators on policy matters. He has been awarded the Commendatore designation, a decoration of the Order of Merit of the Italian Republic.

Davide is Chairman and Trustee of the Hakuna Matata foundation, a registered UK charity which he founded with his wife, focused on assisting orphaned children in central Tanzania. Davide is a graduate cum laude of Bocconi University in Milan, Italy and holds a Master CEMS. He played volleyball professionally in Italy from 1985 until 1990 and reached Series A1, and is a keen alpinist.

Giovanni Sandri
Managing Director, BlackRock

Giovanni Sandri, Managing Director, is Chief Operating Officer of BlackRock in Italy, France Belgium and Luxembourg and a member of the EMEA Operating Committee, EMEA Institutional Operating Committee and EMEA Retail Operating Committee. From 2006 to 2009, Mr. Sandri was CAO for Retail in Southern Europe (France, Italy, Spain and Portugal). Mr. Sandri joined Merrill Lynch Investment Managers in 2005 when he was appointed Head of Client Service and Administration for Italy. Prior to joining MLIM, Mr. Sandri worked as a Business Analyst and Senior Project Manager in large Italian organizations.

Mr. Sandri earned a BS and MS degree in engineering from "Politecnico di Milano" University and a professional certificate from the Management School of Bocconi University. 

Giuseppe Castagna
Group CEO, Banco BPM

Giuseppe Castagna has held important positions with the Intesa Sanpaolo Banking Group, where he worked from 1981 to 2013. After having held office as General Manager of Banco di Napoli S.p.A. (2009–2013), covering the position of Regional Director, in July 2012 he took over the management of IntesaSanPaolo Group’s domestic commercial banking division and in December 2012 he was appointed General Manager of Intesa Sanpaolo Group, retaining his responsibility for the domestic commercial banking division as well as taking on the role of interim General Manager of Banco di Napoli. After having resigned from Intesa Sanpaolo Group in June 2013, Giuseppe Castagna was appointed as chairman of Italian Private Debt Initiative of Muzinich & Co. He was Board Member in banks and other financial intermediaries.

From 2014 to December 2016 he was General Manager and CEO at Banca Popolare di Milano and since January 2017 he has been CEO of the new Group Banco BPM.

Lisa Jucca
Columnist, Reuters Breakingviews

Lisa Jucca is a Milan-based Breakingviews columnist. She joined in January 2017 from Reuters, where she was Asia Finance Editor. A long-term Reuters reporter and team leader, she was Italy’s Chief Financial Correspondent throughout the euro zone crisis and EMEA Wealth Management Correspondent during the fall of Swiss bank secrecy. Previously, she had grappled with bitter cross-border merger battles and witnessed the launch of the euro in Brussels and London. Her work on secretive Vatican-China talks has been commended by SOPA. She studied at the Catholic University of Milan and Cambridge University.
