Jean-Christian Heintz is the Founder and Owner of Wideangle LNG, a boutique advisory firm based registered in Vevey, Switzerland.

Besides being an engineer and  a trader, Jean is also an alpinist and a pro photographer. His experience in the field enables him to give a wider dimension to his consulting work.

His LNG career spans over 14 years.

From 2009 to 2012, he held several roles within the LNG business unit of GDF Suez, soon to be renamed Engie, in Paris, France. As a trader, he made a number of firsts, such as the company’s first spot cargos to Turkey and China, as well as innovative swap deals. Later, as a contract manager, he became in charge of GDF Suez’s major long term LNG contract with Algeria’s Sonatrach.

From 2013 to 2017, he was Head of LNG at DufEnergy Trading in Lugano, Switzerland. Creating the desk from scratch, he successfully placed the company on the global LNG map with milestone deals with producers and portfolio players, mainly in Italy where he originated the first Qatari spot cargo, the first Peruvian cargo, and the first US cargo. He also started the company’s Gas & LNG activities in the Iberian peninsula.

In 2017 and 2018, he worked full time as independent consultant with Wideangle LNG, with customers in Switzerland, France, Italy, United Kingdom, Mexico and Singapore.

In 2019, he helped SCB Brokers launch their LNG derivatives (JKM) activity in Geneva and London.

From 2020 to 2022 he proposed to Alpiq AG, a Swiss-based Power producer, to build an LNG desk. He managed a fast-track entry into physical LNG trading despite the pandemic and an uncertain environment.

His earlier background is in the Gas sector, where he has a 10-year experience in various roles, from pipeline studies to marketing & sales, IT project management, and change management.

Jean-Christian graduated Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Mines in 1996, is married and has two kids. He speaks French, English, German, Portuguese and Italian.

When he is not dealing with Gas & LNG, Jean-Christian seeks inspiration in the mountains and travels as a professional photographer.

Alessandro Sanos is heading the global Sales Strategy and Execution function of the Commodities, Energy, and Shipping business of Refinitiv on the holistic offering of market insights, analytics, data management, and technology. Most recently, Alessandro was leading Thomson Reuters’ Commodities business, and prior, the Risk business in Europe. Before joining Reuters, he worked for PwC in Greece covering the shipping and energy market, and for JPMorgan Chase in the United Kingdom. Alessandro is a regular speaker on technology and market trends at leading industry events. A published author on international financial publications and a guest lecturer on innovation and digital transformation, Alessandro is a member of the Executive Committee of GARP for Switzerland and the Chapter Head of Geneva for the CAIA Association.

Ranjith Raja heads the Refinitiv Oil & Shipping Research for the Middle East and African markets, with a primary focus on oil flows and shipping data. He was one of the first members to join and start the Middle East research desk and was pivotal in building the team and research content for the region. He and his team formulate research and market insights to generate trade flow analytics by utilizing algorithmic and predictive modeling which enables real time trading information and operational intelligence. Prior to Refinitiv, he was sailing as a Master Mariner and managed the commercial operations along with heading the technical management for the fleet. Ranjith holds a Bachelors in Nautical Technology followed by an MBA from the University of Western Ontario in Canada.

Chris Evans is Director of Metals at Refinitiv, an LSEG company, where he co-ordinates strategy for Refinitiv’s metals business. Chris began his career in metals as a reporter, before moving to the London Metal Exchange where he launched the exchange’s first cobalt contract. He has worked at a number of start-up companies and also at a major producer of aluminium. With more than 20 years of experience in the metals business, Chris has worked in New York, Zug and is now based back in London. He is a graduate of Oxford University.

Laurent Crastre joined Refinitiv as Senior Research Analyst in September 2021.  He was previously in charge of the soybean, wheat markets analysis and global feed demand modelling at the consultancy firm Strategies Grains between 2011 and 2021.
