Summary: The training will cover the basics of cryptocurrency investigations, background of different cryptocurrencies currently used by suspects and how they apply to the dark web.

It will also cover the tracing of crypto, specifically Bitcoin, and the recovery of cryptocurrency/asset forfeiture for the purposes of seizing criminal proceeds and returning assets to victims.
The Speaker will also touch on the platforms suspects use to move crypto and what we have seen over the years working these investigations to include the use of encrypted messaging platforms. "

Christopher Hicks
Is a Special Agent with Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and is assigned to the Los Angeles Field Office.
He specializes in cryptocurrency and dark web investigations and was a founding member of Los Angeles Field Office’s Cyber Financial Group. Prior to this assignment, he conducted a wide array of financial and asset forfeiture investigations. He began his federal law enforcement career in 2010 as a Special Agent with the U.S. Secret Service where he conducted bank fraud and asset forfeiture
