Robert Jenkins has over 20 years’ experience in Financial Services and consulting across firms such as Fidelity Investments and McKinsey & Company.  Before assuming his current role as Global Head of Research for Refinitiv/Lipper he served as the President & CEO of Financial Research Corporation (FRC). 

Bob earned an MBA in Finance and Entrepreneurial Management from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.

Darren Lekkerkerker is a portfolio manager at Fidelity Investments. Darren manages Fidelity North American Equity Class and Canadian equity subportfolios for Fidelity Canadian Balanced Fund and Fidelity Canadian Asset Allocation Fund. Darren is also co-portfolio manager of Fidelity Global Natural Resources Fund.

Darren joined Fidelity in 2004 as a research analyst for Team Canada, where he provided equity research coverage for a number of industries in the Canadian market, including materials, health care and consumer staples. 

Before joining Fidelity, Darren worked for five years in investment banking and private equity. 

Darren earned a BBA in finance from Wilfrid Laurier University and an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder.

Tom Coutts has been a member of the International Growth Portfolio Construction Group since March 2008 and took over as Chair in July 2019. He became a Partner in 2014 and our Chief of Investment Staff in 2018.

Tom joined Baillie Gifford in 1999 and spent a number of years in our UK and European Equity Teams before joining the dedicated International Growth research group full time in 2017. He graduated BA in Modern Languages in 1994. 

Caroline Chan, Vice President, Investment Management, is a Portfolio Manager on the Mackenzie Fixed Income Team. Caroline primarily focuses on day-to-day management of investment grade portfolios.  She started her career as a management consultant with Deloitte. Caroline has worked in the finance industry for 20 years, on both the sell-side and buy-side of several large institutions beginning with Merrill Lynch in London and Hong Kong, and later with ANZ Group and Wellington Management Company (both in Hong Kong). With roles in both structuring and trading, Caroline’s focus has been on credit, structured products and derivatives throughout her career. She joined Mackenzie in 2018. 

Caroline earned a Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) degree in electrical engineering and mathematics from the University of Waterloo and her MBA from the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She is also a CFA charterholder.

James Cowan is the editor of The Globe and Mail's Report on Business magazine.

He was previously managing editor of special projects for Maclean’s, where he oversaw the magazine’s popular university rankings, along with other initiatives.

Prior to joining Maclean’s, he was editor-in-chief of Canadian Business. He joined Canadian Business in 2009 as a senior writer, becoming deputy editor the following year.

He also worked as a reporter with the National Post — where he covered municipal, provincial and federal politics — and as associate editor at Saturday Night magazine.

He began his career as a film critic for eye Weekly.
