Axel Threlfall, Editor-at-Large, Reuters [Moderator]

 

Axel Threlfall is Editor-at-Large, Reuters, based in London. Alongside his editorial duties, he hosts high-profile engagements and thought leadership events for and on behalf of Reuters and Thomson Reuters, such as the Newsmaker series and the World Economic Forum news show in Davos. He was previously Lead Anchor for Reuters Digital Video. Prior to joining Reuters, Axel spent five years as an anchor for CNBC in London. Before that, he was an editor with The Wall Street Journal in New York and a news reporter for Bloomberg in London. He has also advised businesses and NGOs on their dealings with the international media. Axel is frequently asked to moderate events for international organizations, including the United Nations and the OECD. He has a BA in History from Durham University and a postgraduate degree in journalism from City University, London.

John Dioufas, Director, Macro & Economics - Refinitiv

 

John grew up in South Africa and studied Economics at university.  After university he joined a niche bank in Johannesburg and worked in its Treasury division for 3 years.  In 2001 he joined Reuters Financial in London, holding positions in Customer Training, Desktop Design and Product Management.  He currently leads the Macro & Economics team which manages client workflows in Refinitiv’s desktop products. John speaks Afrikaans, Greek and Flemish and enjoys travelling, cooking and Springbok rugby.

Sujata Rao, Deputy Markets and Financial Services Editor - EMEA, Reuters

 

Sujata grew up in India, studied languages at university, majoring in Russian.  She started her journalism career in Moscow at an expat paper called The Moscow Times after completing a post-graduate degree in Russian. After covering the 1998 Russian crisis, she joined Reuters, then transferred to our Central Asia bureau which was headquartered in Almaty, Kazakhstan. Her next move was to London to the energy desk where she spent four years. Since mid-2005, Sujata has been on the EMEA markets team in a variety of roles – currently, she is Deputy markets and financial services editor, EMEA. Sujata speaks Russian, Spanish, Farsi and some Indian languages. She is passionate about the environment, international development, baking and gardening.

Mike Dolan, Global Financial Markets Columnist, Reuters

 

Mike Dolan is Reuters Editor-at-Large for Finance & Markets and has worked as an editor, correspondent and columnist at Reuters for the past 25 years - specializing in global economics, policymaking and financial markets across the G7 and emerging economies. Mike is currently based in London, but has also lived and worked in Washington DC and in Sarajevo and has covered news events from dozens of cities across the world. A graduate in economics and politics from Trinity College Dublin, Mike previously worked with Bloomberg and Euromoney and won Reuters awards for work on the financial crisis in 2007/2008 and on frontier markets in 2010. He was a regular columnist in the International New York Times between 2010 and 2015 and currently writes a twice-weekly column for Reuters. 

Salah-Eddine Bouhmidi, Head of Markets Germany, Austria, Netherlands - IG

 

Salah-Eddine Bouhmidi has been dealing as a trader with the stock market for a good twelve years now and knows that knowing the context is good, and having emotions under control is all the better.
 
Mr Bouhmidi is Head of Markets at IG. His daily views are mainly based on technical analysis. Mr Bouhmidi has a degree in economics (M. Sc.) and in his studies, he mainly focused on capital market theory and quantitative methods. In addition to psychological components, Mr Bouhmidi deals with statistical modelling of trading strategies and test approaches. He invented the so-called Bouhmidi-Bands and indicator based on implied volatility. He is also fluent in Arabic, Dutch, German and Spanish.
