As a columnist for Reuters, Karen focuses on all aspects of the global agriculture market, predominantly grains and oilseeds.

Matt Bennett
Illinois Farmer/Producer

Matt Bennett is a Windsor, Illinois, farmer and former grain elevator owner. He is Channel Seed’s grain marketing consultant and holds a Series 3 brokerage license and is a founding partner of AgMarket.Net, Farm Division of JSA.

Matt brings the producer perspective to the table, enriched with his extensive grain marketing background. He specializes in formulating risk-management strategies for corn, soybean farmers and livestock producers. Matt’s analysis and commentary on the grain markets appears on various TV and radio stations across the Midwest, including “Market to Market”, “AgDay”, “U.S. Farm Report” and “This Week in Agribusiness”.

A graduate of University of Illinois, Matt and his wife Tiffany live on the family’s centennial farm north of Windsor, where they are raising their five children. He owns and operates a 3,000-acre corn and soybean farm with his father while raising 25 head of registered Angus cows.


Seth Naeve
Soybean Agronomist - University of Minnesota

Dr. Seth Naeve is a Soybean Agronomist with the University of Minnesota and is an Associate Professor in the Department of Agronomy and Plant Genetics. His effort is split between a soybean production/physiology research project and his soybean extension activities. These activities are centered in the North central region of the US, and more specifically in the state of Minnesota where about 8 million acres of soybean are produced each year.

Dr. Naeve’s research program focuses on development of novel strategies for the efficient production of high quality soybean. His research effort is split between analyzing genetic, environmental, and cultural effects on soybean seed quality (oil, protein, fatty acid, amino acid, and carbohydrate composition) and researching management strategies to maximize production efficiencies.

Seth was raised on a corn and soybean farm in Northern Iowa, and received his Bachelor's degree in Biology and PhD in Agronomy (Crop Production and Physiology) from Iowa State University.

Jose Clavijo
Agriculture Analyst - Refinitiv

Jose (Pepe) Clavijo Jose is an agricultural data scientist at Refinitiv, developing forecasts and analysis of world crop production. Originally from Venezuela, Pepe obtained his MSc (2009) and PhD (2014) in Agronomy from the University of Florida.

Prior to joining Refinitiv, Pepe worked as a Research Scientist at North Carolina State University.
Ryan Koory
Director of Economics - Mercaris

Ryan Koory has more than a decade’s experience analyzing and reporting on agricultural markets, with an extensive background in econometric modeling, policy research, and long-term scenario forecasting. Before focusing on organic and non-GMO crops, he developed market forecasts for global livestock, diary, and biofuel markets. Ryan has a B.S. in Economics at Missouri State University and studied for his M.S. in Agricultural Economics at the University of Missouri-Columbia.
