Capt. Amrit Singh is a Lead Shipping Analyst at LSEG-Refinitiv in London.

He has over 30 years of shipping industry experience gained in various roles. Singh began his career at sea and ascended to become Captain with Wilh. Wilhelmsen, Norway before stepping ashore. Prior to joining LSEG-Refinitiv (formerly Thomson Reuters), he was a Senior Equity Analyst at Clarkson Capital Markets in London with coverage of listed Shipping, Oil Services and Transport (Airlines & Automobile) companies across the U.K., Europe, South Africa and Asia. Previously, he has held position as General Manager of a shipping agency and has served as Head of Corporate Planning in a shipping company. 

Singh holds a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Edinburgh Business School, UK. Besides a Diploma in Ship Management from NSTC at North West Kent College, UK, he also qualified as a lead auditor/auditor in Quality and Environmental Management Systems.

Hæge Fjellheim is the Director of Carbon Research at Refinitiv/LSEG. She heads a team offering data and analysis on carbon markets around the world with a specific focus on the European and Chinese carbon markets. This includes supply and demand balances based on in-depth proprietary models, short and long-term price forecasts, installation data bases as well as extensive policy and market analysis. Hæge has previously worked in the Point Carbon advisory department and in the Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy, and holds a Master’s degree in Political Science from the University of Oslo.

Fabrice Maille is the Director for Commodities & Shipping Product Management.

Nikos Nomikos is Professor of Shipping Finance at Bayes Business School (formerly Cass). He is the Academic Director of the Bayes Dubai Executive MBA Program and the former Director of the MSc in Shipping, Trade and Finance.

His area of expertise is Ship Finance, Risk Management and Asset Pricing for Shipping and Commodity Markets. Examples of his research include the development of ship valuation models, designing shipping indices and market benchmarks, structuring risk management products, valuation of freight derivative contracts, big-data analytics for assessing market dynamics and sustainable finance. Nikos has published more than 50 papers in peer-review academic journals. He has co-authored the book “Shipping Derivatives and Risk Management” considered the leading reference book in this area.

Nikos commenced his career at the Baltic Exchange as Head of Market Analytics where he oversaw the development of shipping indices that are currently used in the market as pricing benchmarks. Being interested in applied and commercially viable research, Nikos collaborates widely with corporations both as consultant as well as in executive education. He also acts as expert witness on shipping related cases.

Nikos lectures on Finance, Economics, Asset pricing and Risk Management for the MSc, MBA and PhD programs. He is also Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers.

Alessandro Sanos is heading the global Sales Strategy and Execution function of the Commodities, Energy, and Shipping business of Refinitiv on the holistic offering of market insights, analytics, data management, and technology.

Most recently, Alessandro was leading Thomson Reuters’ Commodities business, and prior, the Risk business in Europe. Before joining Reuters, he worked for PwC in Greece, covering the shipping and energy market, and for JPMorgan Chase in the United Kingdom.

Alessandro is a regular speaker on technology and market trends at leading industry events. A published author on international financial publications and a guest lecturer on innovation and digital transformation, Alessandro is a member of the Executive Committee of GARP for Switzerland and the Chapter Head of Geneva for the CAIA Association.

Geir Olafsen is Co-Founder of Siglar Carbon and leads product innovation, analytics and advisory in the company. Siglar Carbon provides the tools for shipping professionals to manage carbon exposure, cut costs and reduce emissions through their commercial processes.

Geir has a long career in shipping, working initially as market analyst with Marsoft followed by 15 years as head of market analysis and senior partner at Inge Steensland, now Steem1960 shipbrokers. In 2013 Geir co-founded Storekeeper, a digital solution to reduce energy use and waste in the retail sector, before venturing to co-found Siglar Carbon in 2016. The common denominator for Geir’s work is using data and hands-on industry experience to produce accurate and actionable insight to support commercial decisions.
