Hyewon Kong manages AGF Global Sustainable Growth Equity strategy investing in solutions to sustainability challenges to create positive impact, while leading ESG integration and ESG Committee at AGF. She is a member of the Investment Committee of a municipality endowment fund (The Atmospheric Fund) and serves on the Environmental Finance Advisory Committee at the University of Toronto. Hyewon is a CFA charterholder and a member of the Toronto CFA society and has co-founded and co-chairs the Toronto Responsible Investment Working Group.

Judy is the CEO of ESG Global Advisors, a firm that bridges the gap between companies and investors on environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors. With over 20 years’ legal experience, the last 10 of which has been exclusively focused on ESG, Judy is a globally recognized expert on ESG and responsible investment.

Prior to forming ESG Global Advisors, Judy was V.P. & Head of Corporate Governance& Responsible Investment for RBC Global Asset Management (“RBC GAM”) and was a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. Judy launched the Corporate Governance & Responsible Investment group at RBC GAM in 2012 and was responsible for developing the firm’s overall ESG strategy, working with the investment teams to integrate ESG into the investment process, overseeing all proxy voting globally and engaging with investee companies, both individually and collaboratively with other investors.

Previously, Judy was the Director of Policy Development & Chief Operating Officer forthe Canadian Coalition for Good Governance (“CCGG”), a coalition of most of Canada’s largest institutional investors. Judy has a Masters’ degree in securities law and practiced law in various capacities, including as enforcement counsel with the OSC,litigation counsel with a large broker/dealer and as a partner in a Bay Street law firm.Judy is a Board Advisor to Connor, Clark & Lunn Financial Group. She is a current member of the TSX Listings Advisory Committee, the CCGG Public Policy Committeeand the UN PRI’s Global Policy Reference Group. She was previously the Canada Correspondent for the International Corporate Governance Network.

Derek Butcher RBC Global Asset Management














Senior ESG Analyst

Derek Butcher: MBA (2014), Odette School of Business, University of Windsor; Masters in Environment and Sustainability (2012), University of Western Ontario; B.Sc (Honours) – Biological Sciences (2010), University of Windsor.

Derek first joined RBC Global Asset Management (RBC GAM) in 2015 as a Proxy Voting Analyst in the Corporate Governance & Responsible Investment (CGRI) group. Now, as the CGRI group’s Senior ESG Analyst, Derek is responsible for assisting the investment teams with their ESG integration processes, managing, documenting and tracking the firm’s ESG engagement activities and overseeing the firm’s proxy voting. Prior to joining RBC GAM, Derek worked as a researcher for one of the world’s leading responsible investment research providers, conducting ESG research across markets and providing clients with customized responsible investment products. Derek is a CFA® charterholder.

Hugh Smith Refinitiv (Moderator)















Performance Director, Americas 

Hugh is the Manager of Refinitiv’s Portfolio Management & Analytics business for North & South America. He began his education with a degree in Environmental Science before pursuing an MBA with a specialization in International Finance, and earning the CFA designation. Outside of Refinitiv, Hugh is a regular contributor to the Globe & Mail and is also a Director on the board of the Responsible Investment Association.
